The training was very well done and included a lot of detail to ensure we are super prepared before starting our shifts.

This training prepares the CL volunteers with the key tenets to begin offering service to callers. Key aspects are covered including active listening skills, gleaning emotion(s) through the written chats, and what to do with repeat callers or inappropriate online behaviours, and much more. I did require some additional help with the technical portion of the platform as I was on a PC and the trainer in the video was working on a Mac book so be aware that the icons on your screen may not be exactly in the same place as what is being illustrated. However, the tech team was very helpful and quick getting back to me when I got stuck.

I feel that the training was done well. The video for practical training or understanding what the website looks like is outdated. I think it would be good to set up deadlines for seperate portions of the training to make it easier to structure all the content.

The training process for CLS Volunteering is thorough and manageable. Important topics are covered that are necessary for any volunteer to know when talking to emotionally vulnerable clients. I would just suggest that CLS checks through their training course to correct the spelling/grammar mistakes that were occasionally present in their content.
