EFFECTS OF DIVORCE IN CHILDREN
An article published on Positive Med’s website explores the ways that children can be affected by the divorce and separation process. It is important for parents to understand the various ways that divorce can affect their children, especially as they grow older.
It important, the author suggests, to listen to and accept your child’s wishes, even if they do not align with your own and be sure not to compete for your child’s attention and love.
These can be most easily attained if you work to maintain at least a neutral relationship with your Ex which, while it is not easy, is extremely important in establishing a trusting relationship of mutual respect with your child.
If direct communication is not ideal with the other parent, it is important to find a third party who is able to respectfully pass along messages and never expect your child to pass messages directly to the other party.
